So glad to back home in Georgia for the Thanksgiving break! The weather here is the perfect blend of fall breeze and spring sun. I decided to incorporate a little of both seasons into my outfit today. Leather, spikes, camo, snake print, and a pop of neon…you name it, I wore it!
Today is a double treat! A DIY & “What I Wore Today” in one!
Some of my veteran readers might remember this denim jacket I acid washed a few years ago. I’ve been playing with the idea of turning into a vest for some time now and finally got around to doing it at about 3am this morning. Luckily, I didn’t ruin it in my sleep deprived induced delirium.
I was a pretty simple thing to do. I simply grabbed a pair of scissors and cut* the sleeves off and added studs to one shoulder.
*I started a hole with the scissors and then ripped the rest in order to give the sleeves a distressed look. The rip will inevitably move away from the seam. When it does, simple cut close to the seam with the scissors and then continue ripping.
I also had to hem (hand stitched) about an inch and a half worth of fabric from the sides in order to make it fit closer to the body.
M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E! That’s today’s theme. To celebrate the 70+ degree weather we had in NYC, I decided to have a little fun and wear my Mickey Mouse button up I thrifted for $11 from Beacon’s Closet.
I bought this shirt a few weeks ago (at the same time I bought this clutch) and I’ve been DYING to wear it*.
*I put on a pair of black shorts underneath to prevent a "wardrobe malfunction"
I paired it with a pair of butterfly print fishnets and a waist tie that I repurposed into a bow tie. I love this look because it’s simple, yet edgy. And it’s kind of a twist on the “sleep in your boyfriend’s button up” look…if my boyfriend was a really awesome hipster. Simple accessories–pearl earrings and a watch from Aldo–and I was out the door, on my way to enjoy this beautiful day!
Even though today is a “sit in class ALL day” kinda day, I still wanted to be cute and comfortable. I opted to wear my yellow sundress since the weather is still nice but I wasn’t quite up for sandals or wedges; hence, my combat style boots. I love the combination of soft and hard!
I also tossed on my black H&M blazer because I knew it would be cold in class.
Thoughts on what I wore today?
Another day of running errands in the city. I wore an abstract floral print pants jumpsuit, brown wedges & a brown faux snakeskin envelope clutch. xoxo
