RSVP: “Fab Four” Celebration!

That’s right! January 1st will mark the start of 4 years of blogging for me. Can you believe it?! I can’t! I guess time really does fly when you’re having fun.

I’ve had some really amazing things happen to me because of the thing called “Blake Von D”. From features in Vibe Magazine and my recent cover articles on J’Adore Magazine to my 2.5 seconds of fame on Basketball Wives (lol). It’s all been quite a journey and I can’t wait to see what the future holds. But what would all of this be without you guys support?!

So to thank you, I’ve put together what I’m hoping *fingers crossed* will be a fabulous holiday event in New York City.

RSVP at rsvp@blakevond.com

I want ALL you to come out to Inglot Cosmetics in Chelsea Market and help me celebrate 4 wonderful years of blogging. There will be gift bags–sponsored by EDEN BodyWorksBjorn Borg and J’Adore Magazine, a giveaway from Orchids & Spice, drinks, and DJ Carver the Great will be on the 1s and 2s!

I really hope that you guys will come out to help me celebration and to show my appreciation to YOU! *kisses*

Countdown to NYC!

I know, I know! It’s been FOREVER since I blogged. But if it makes you feel any better, my life is in complete disarray right now. I’ve got 10 days before I move to NYC, so between hunting down an apartment from 600 states away, packing, working and saying my goodbye’s, I’ve barely had time to eat much less blog. But I’m back…well sorta. I’m gonna do my best to be more “in the moment”, but honestly I need about 2 more weeks before I’ll be completely settled.

But we can speed this transition phase up if any of you wanna come be my personal assistant. And by personal assistant I mean do everything for me while I sit back and cheer you on. Any takers?? Let’s not all jump at once. LOL

BUT…I have some pretty neat and exciting things in the works so stay posted!

Nelly or Jay-Z…You [help me] Choose!

After months of waiting, stressing and obsessively checking the status of my application, the verdict is in…I GOT ACCEPTED INTO NYU! Now, if you remember about a month ago I told y’all that I got accepted into Washington University at St. Louis. So now comes the hard part — choosing a school. On the surface it’s like, “Fool, it’s NYU! What’s there to think about?!” I know right! I keep asking myself the same question. But there’s a lot of factors that come into play. The most pressing of them being $$$. So maybe you guys can help me decide.

WashU ($31k/yr):

Pros:

  • GREAT financial aid package
  • Top ranked Social Work program in the country
  • Cheaper cost of living
  • Super friendly staff

Cons:

  • Location (St. Louis)
  • Presents few opportunities for my other passions (fashion/styling)
  • Less prestigious institution
  • SNOW!

NYU ($32k/yr):

Pros:

  • IT’S NYU! Seriously, I almost don’t need to put anything else in this category
  • Location (NYC)
  • Fashion capital

Cons:

  • Higher cost of living
  • Social Work department ranked #22±
  • Offered less money
  • SNOW!

Of course these aren’t all the things I have to take into consideration, but these are the most pressing issues I guess. Help me guys! I only have 3 weeks to decide!

Some B*tches Have All the Luck

Fashion Week 2010 is well underway and despite some devastating news (the loss of fashion icon & resident genius Alexander McQueen) late last week, it seems to be going off without a hitch. Well…I assume! I’m not there so I have no real way of knowing now do I?! (I’m a little bitter as you can probably tell). But I digress. For those of you stuck at home twiddling your thumbs [like me] instead of getting a sneak peak at the new upcoming collections, here are a few pictures to help you cope with the withdrawal symptoms.

Memoirs of the Totally Neurotic

If you had asked me 4 years ago what I wanted to do with my life I could have given you the run down in 30 seconds flat. Now when someone asks me that question I’m a stammering, indecisive fool. I never in a million years would have thought that I would be planning a move to NYC, applying to NYU and pursuing a career in personal styling…but I am! And to be honest, I’m super excited about it. I mean, I could do without the snow and subzero temperatures, but I figure if I start investing in some long johns and stylish gloves now I just might survive. Heck, now that I think about it, finding long johns in Georgia might be a feat in itself.

But anyways, that’s been my problem lately. I get super excited about something and then the excitement dies and I’m #ontothenext. But seeing how this NYU application is almost done after just a couple days and this fashion thing is really looking good…I’m really thinking I’m gonna see this one through. Send up some positive energy for me guys and pray that things go as planned. Wish me luck!
