What I Wore Today

Yeah, yeah. Where have I been? I know. Now that we got that out of the way. Let’s talk about what I wore today! lol.

I have to admit, I felt super cute today and so I figured today made for the perfect day to end my blogging drought. Because I just had to show you guys all the cuteness. lol.

I recently purchased this faux leather skirt from Forever 21. I had to take it and get the waist taken in, so I was super excited to get it back from the tailor and honestly couldn’t wait to wear it. I decided to pair it with my monogrammed varsity letterman from H&M and then added my favorite knit hat from GAP.

Now, LET’S TALK ABOUT THESE SHOES!

I have been in love with Christian Siriano and his work from the moment I saw him on Project Runway. His attention to detail and his knack for creativity is just everything to me. So when he started doing a line of shoes with Payless a few years ago, I made sure to keep my eye on the collection so I could jump on the opportunity to own a pair. I recently came across the pair of suede faux snakeskin booties during a late night online shopping session and fell in love! I waited anxiously by the mailbox everyday (No, really. I did.) until they finally arrived. And they did not disappoint!

I thought these awesome shoes would be the perfect touch of detail for my look today and I have to say, I pretty happy with the way it all came together.

What do you think of what I wore today?

10 Looks from NYFW to Go Crazy Over

We’re a week post NYFW and it’s still crazy to think that it’s over. So many gorgeous trends, fabulous people, and of course the fabulous people rocking gorgeous trends. Take a look at some of my favorite looks on and off the runway.

ON THE RUNWAY

DVF Fall 2012 //Photo Credit: GettyImages

DVF is known for her signature wrap dresses, but this season in addition to that staple piece she added color blocking. This trend is fun for any girl, any profession, any time of the day. I totally love it!

Chartreuse is a hard color to style. But add a lot of cleavage, a sheer panel, and pouty lips – totally loving!

Alice + Oliva Fall 2012 // Photo Credit: GettyImages

Alice + Olivia featured lots of playful furs paired with amazing fabrics. Just enough fur for the non-fur lover in me.

Herve Leger by Maz Azria Fall 2012 // Photo Credit: GettyImages

Herve Leger was also another designer who featured new trends. Normally we see lots of bandage with his collections, and he still kept true to his style, but fabric blocking added an ounce more of edge for this designer.

Christian Siriano Fall 2012 // Photo Credit: GettyImages

Christian Siriano saw the unlikely beauty in a creature that most of us are scared of – Bats! Once again Christian’s inspiration is dead on. Loving this bat inspired gown. I wonder which celeb(s) will be wearing this?

Naeem Khan Fall 2012 // Photo Credit: GettyImages

Naeem Khan took home plenty of awards this season and rightfully so. Sequins, gold, lots of clevage – WINNING!

When you’re watching the Oscars this Sunday check out how many celebs are wearing these 2 girls fabulous gowns. I’m sure we’re going to see this gown on a red carpet very soon.

OFF THE RUNWAY

There was a time when yellow and red were considered a miserable pair, but these days any color goes and this fashion girl is totally working it.

Fashion Week in February can be damn near dreadful when picking fashionable yet warm pieces. But here’s to being warm and stylish!

This coat is EVERYTHANG! And appears to be super warm. She’s done us proud by adding a splash of color with her canary yellow gloves.

Although Fashion Weeks all over the world are coming to an end in a few days, it’s clear many of us are already trend forecasters.

So tell me what trends will you be trying out this spring?

Sexy in Siriano: Who Wore it Better?

Amber Rose was photographed wearing this beautiful Christian Siriano dress during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week 2010 in New York City. Rihanna wore a variation of the same dress during Super Bowl XLIV a couple weekends ago. Who wore it better? A. Rose gets my vote only because her body fills it out better and I live for those couture sleeves!

Fashion Makes Me “Week”!!!

Crap! Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week is exactly one week away and I still haven’t finalized my plans for how to sneak into the tents at Bryant Park to get a peek at the upcoming Fall 2010 lines of the world’s hottest designers. Not only do I have to find a way in, but I have to figure out to get a seat in rows 1, 2 or 3. Because in the words Kelly Cutrone (of People’s Revolution), “If you’re in rows 1, 2 or 3…you’re in the game. If you’re in anything above row 3…you’re not in the game!” And I’m in the game dammit! Ok not really, but a girl can dream, right?

Speaking of Bryant Park, how sad is it that this is the last year NYC Fashion Week will be held in Bryant Park? Fashion Week has been held in BP since 1993 and has become the [stateside] fashion mecca. Every designer dreams of journeying there before they die…and if they’re lucky, maybe they’ll get to show their collection there as well. But not only is it kinda disheartening for aspiring designers, designers who have standing reservations on the roster are pissed! It’s not an uncommon sight to see designers [well, their assistants/interns] wheeling racks of clothing through the streets or running back to the showroom for last minute buttons and zippers since Bryant Park is located in the heart of the Historic Fashion District. But they won’t have that luxury at the new Lincoln Center location which is further uptown. Call me, I’ll carry those clothes on my back in 4ft of snow just for a chance to attend Fashion Week. No seriously…call me!

But there is a plus side to the move. America isn’t exactly the powerhouse of fashion the way that say…Europe is, but the outgrowth of Bryant Park shows that we could be well on our way! Some of the designers showing in this season’s Fashion Week include Michael Kors, Diane Von Furstenberg, Monique Lhuiller and Project Runway contestants — which produced one of my personal favorites, Christian Siriano, who is also showing at Bryant Park again this year.
