This song leaked from Beyonce upcoming album, 4, earlier today. My Twitter timeline has been filled with people talking about it all day long. So I decided to go against my rule of “Ignoring the Hype” and give it a listen. My verdict? Eh. #shrugs
I can appreciate the 90′s, old school vibe, because Lord KNOWS we need that kinda music back. But music from the 90′s made your soul come alive. The minute the beat drops you throw your hands in the air and shout the infamous, “Oooo…that’s my JAM!“. This song doesn’t do that for me. I will admit though, there was one line in Andre 3000′s verse that nearly made me have a small hormone induced stroke. (I won’t tell you which one. haha).
I’m sure it will sell a million copies because that what Beyonce does. But overall, I could take it or leave it. Who knows, maybe it will grow on me.
*Let’s see how long it take for “You got that swag girl, you drippin’ Swagu” to become your favorite rapper’s, favorite rapper’s favorite line.
