This song leaked from Beyonce upcoming album, 4, earlier today. My Twitter timeline has been filled with people talking about it all day long. So I decided to go against my rule of “Ignoring the Hype” and give it a listen. My verdict? Eh. #shrugs
I can appreciate the 90′s, old school vibe, because Lord KNOWS we need that kinda music back. But music from the 90′s made your soul come alive. The minute the beat drops you throw your hands in the air and shout the infamous, “Oooo…that’s my JAM!“. This song doesn’t do that for me. I will admit though, there was one line in Andre 3000′s verse that nearly made me have a small hormone induced stroke. (I won’t tell you which one. haha).
I’m sure it will sell a million copies because that what Beyonce does. But overall, I could take it or leave it. Who knows, maybe it will grow on me.
*Let’s see how long it take for “You got that swag girl, you drippin’ Swagu” to become your favorite rapper’s, favorite rapper’s favorite line.

This week’s word of the week? BEYONCE! In one week’s time Beyonce premiered a video and received a Lifetime Millennium Award. Technically, the Billboard Music Awards are supposed to be about all of that year’s big accomplishments in music, but let’s be real…we all tuned in to see Beyonce.
All the stars were in the building to help Beyonce celebrate her big moment, including former Destiny’s Child members, Michelle and Kelly Rowland. Speaking of Kelly, Beyonce might have gotten the LMA, but Kelly wins the Brickhouse of the Year Award. Her body was BANGIN’!

I guess you really do run the world when you can commandeer an entire episode of a TV show you have absolutely nothing to do with. And that’s just what Beyonce did with tonight’s episode of American Idol. Millions of Americans sat glued to their television sets watching a show they probably wouldn’t have watched otherwise to see the world premiere of her Run the World (Girls) video.
This premiere feels like it’s been a long time coming. So long that some people took to making their own video in hopes of inspiring a sooner release date or perhaps even a job on the video set. I posted this video a few weeks ago. Personally, I like the “unofficial version” better.

Woke up from a nap. Saw Blind Fury (@BlindFury) trending on Twitter. I just HAD to find out what it was about.
Download ‘Friends Before Lovers’
I think I stopped watching 106 & Park back in about 10th grade, but I happened to catch an episode of Freestyle Friday a few months ago. That episode just so happened to feature a blind…yes blind…MC by the name of Blind Fury. I was stuck! He was so dope! Week after week, I tuned in to watch him annihilate rapper after rapper. Male, female, deaf, dumb…it didn’t matter. They all got the BUSINESS.
Check out one of his most memorable performances against Moon

This video needs few words, but a few that come to mind are “sick” and “WERK!”
These girls are giving Sean Bankhead’s (@itsSeanBankhead) choreography the BIZNESS! I love the styling. I love the location(s). I love it all! #shoutout to the chick with the blonde fade aka Ms. Thicker than a Snicker…lol…she’s a BEAST!
On another note: This REALLY makes me miss Atlanta.

There’s Beyonce…and then there’s SASHA FIERCE! Beyonce’s cool and all, but it’s really Sasha Fierce that makes the magic happen. She’s sassy, sexy and is quick to ‘ring the alarm’ on somebody.
Well move over Sasha Fierce, there’s a new Sasha in town!
British songbird Adele took a page out of Beyonce’s book and created her own alter ego. In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine she recounts the birth of her fiercer, bolder persona.
“I was about to meet Beyoncé. I had a full-blown panic attack. Then she popped in looking gorgeous and said, ‘You’re amazing! When I listen to you I feel like I’m listening to God.’
I know that’s right! I love that Beyonce isn’t delusional about the fact that Adele could sing her under a table. Yeah, I said it!

Lupe Fiasco played to a sold out crowd at the Roseland Ballroom in NYC. His opening acts were an artist by the name of Dosage (@therealdosage) and another named Black Milk. Dosage was DOPE! I’m trying to find his mixtape like right now. But that Black Milk character was about this close to getting “keyed”. Every time he said he was about to do another song the crowd started begging for Lupe. It was actually kinda funny. LOL.
This was the first concert that I’ve been to since like 2007 (T.I. on the Scream Tour) and I was soooo excited about it. I’ve been telling anybody who would listen–and even those who wouldn’t–about me going to this concert. Several people who had seen Lupe perform in the past told me it would be one of the best experiences of my life…and Lupe definitely lived up to the hype.
Here’s a little taste!
Forgive me for the shakiness on ‘The Show Goes On’…that is my JAM!

Britney Spears + people having fun? What more could you ask for?!
I thought this video remake of Britney Spears’ Hold It Against Me was super cute so I figured I’d share it. Glad to see these guys and gals getting some much needed stress relief. Maybe Britney will see it and go perform for them.

Da Brat is now a free woman and she didn’t waste anytime getting back to freestyling. I’ve been hearing talks about her freestyle to ‘Look At Me Now’ but haven’t actually had the time to hunt it down and hear it for myself. Well, I finally came across this video and I gotta admit, she goes hard! (Although Jermaine Dupri’s verse got me HYPE! It’s the Southern Girl in me.) But what makes me love it even more is the possibility that there just might be somebody [back] on the scene who can make Nicki sit the hell down somewhere. But I will say this…I’m not so sure it was a freestyle. Still dope nonetheless.
What do you think of JD & Da Brat’s verses?
*Sidenote: Can anybody explain to me the purpose of Allen Iverson in this video?

Rihanna may not ever win the “Best Voice of the Decade” award, but I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again…She has that slow wind down to a science!
Boys, eat your heart out. You can thank me later.
