Funny how you can put things into the universe without even knowing it. At the start of the year, I sat down and created a list of all the brands I wanted to work with in 2014. On that list was NYLON Magazine. I’ve always loved the fun, edgy feel of their site and their youthful, but relevant content. I’d like to think my brand is a lot of those things. Fun. Edgy. Lively. But still chic. (Or at least I hope it is. Lol.) So you can imagine I was over the moon when an email from NYLON Magazine popped up in my inbox!
So often, blogging is about who you know. Knowing the right person can be the ticket to your next feature and over the years, that’s definitely been true for me. But this collaboration proposal was especially special for me, because (to my knowledge) I don’t know anyone over at NYLON. That means they found me organically and they liked what they saw! YES! That’s such an amazing feeling!
They invited me to be a part of the relaunch of their e-commerce site, NYLONshop. I picked out a few items that I liked and they surprised me with one of my choices. Enter this kick ass ‘POW!’ clutch from Love, Cortnie—who ironically is my blogger BFF. (We met back in October at the Style Bloggers of Color Conference in Miami.) I used this bright, fun clutch to add a pop of color to the military motif I have going on. I love that it’s an unexpected juxtaposition, but I think it totally works. What do you guys think?
P.S. You won’t believe the things bloggers go through to get the shot. Even though you can’t tell it (look closely at pic #1), my photographer and I stood in sleeting rain for these photos. But we got it done!
