Beauty Bag: Maybelline & Rimmel London New Releases

Rimmel London makes some of my favorite products. All of their products are quality and perfect for the girl on a budget. I’ve been patiently waiting for them to release their Lasting Finish Matte by Kate Moss Lipsticks and their Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal. Well, they are finally here! I also picked up a few Maybelline products:  Color Tattoo Metals, The Rocket Volum’ Express Mascara, and Colorsensational Vivid Lipstick. I got all these products at my local Wal-Mart.

Read on for my thoughts on these products!

I got two Lasting Finish Matte by Kate Moss Lipsticks in 101 and 102. These lipsticks are not actually matte, but do have a slight cream finish. These, unlike the original Lasting Finish by Kate Moss Lipsticks, smell wonderful!

I love to wear 101 under a light pink gloss during the day. 102 is perfect for a night out.

I got the Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal in 005 Nude and 010 Silver. Of all of these new products, Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal (in 005 Nude) is my favorite. It’s the dupe for MAC’s Chromagraphic Eyeliner in NC15/NC20. The Chromagraphic Eyeliner retails for $15.00, whereas Rimmel’s Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal retails for $3.97. I know, what a steal!

I have on 005 Nude eyeliner.

My next product is a new release from Maybelline Color Tattoo. I use the Maybelline Color Tattoo’s as a base, and it really makes my eyeshadow pop and last longer. I purchased 2 colors from the Metal Collection: Barely Branded and Inked in Pink. These Color Tattoos are said to rival MAC’s Paint Pots, and retail for $5.94. Be sure to get these from a Wal-Mart, as I have seen these in drugstores for around $6.99.

Pomegranate Punk doesn’t really photograph well on my skintone without flash (NW45).

I also picked up Maybelline The Rocket Volum’ Express Mascara (I replace my mascara every 6 months). I’ve been using this mascara for a few weeks, and I really like it. It separates, and volumizes lashes and really creates a falsie effect.

Retails for $5.94

The last new product I picked up was Maybelline’s Color Sensational Vivid Lipstick. These lipsticks are everything! The finish is super moisturizing, and these colors come off almost fluorescent! They’re made with neon-coated pigments and honey nectar to keep lips feeling nourished. My only issue with these lipsticks is that the color is quite opaque (not as opaque as a gloss). They also stain a little.

Note: Brazen Berry does appear slightly opaque. If you are looking for a more pigmented purple, try MAC’s Violetta or apply a purple liner.

You guys picked up any of these products yet?

Loved this post. I noticed that you’re brown skinned and I was wondering how you got the pink matte lipsticks to look so flawless on your skin. I am close to your skin tone, but pink colored lipsticks usually leave me looking zombie-ish, washed out, and chalky. Should I line the lips first?

I’m NW45 in MAC foundation shades, and my fav lip colors are pinks! The lips I have on above are with no liner, but I put them on very lightly! I put on 1 layer and rub in, and if it doesn’t appear smooth enough I’ll apply one more light layer. I also clean up the outside of my lips with a make up wipe or use my fingers to neaten up, just to make the lipstick appear seamless. I have worn both of those Rimmel Mattes (esp 101 which I wear to school often), and I wear them with a baby pink or peach gloss every single time just so the color doesn’t shock people! So definitely wear a gloss over them to tone the color down a tad, and for seriously bright/chalky colors, line lips with a darker liner first! I know darker skin women struggle with brighter lip colors b/c they do come off extremely bright on our skin tone but with gloss and a darker liner anything is possible!
